Tybee Salutes Heroes is a program supported by Island businesses to bring and host former military personnel and their families to spend a weekend of quality time together at the beach November 11-13 weekend  for the 4th Annual Tybee Salutes Heroes event.
There will be special events through the weekend, including family-friendly events held at the American Legion and of course the annual Tybee Salutes Heroes Parade.

Friday, November 11:

Families will receive a welcome bag donated by Visit Tybee filled with coupons, discounts and gifts from local businesses. There will also be updated details on weekend activities.

Saturday, November 12:

– Tybee Salutes Heroes Parade on Butler Avenue beginning at 1 p.m.
*Parade proudly sponsored by The City of Tybee Island.
– Special ceremony at Memorial Park
– Military Family Celebration at American Legion Tybee Post #154 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, November 13:

Rest and relaxation on Tybee Island.

12006493_679526088850672_7614153288328456521_oThe Tybee Salutes Heroes Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th. We will meet  to get lined up in the 14th Street parking lot, Strand side.The parade will travel down Tybrisa, north on Butler Ave to Memorial Park (5th Street and Butler Avenue).

Visitors and community residents are invited to come out for the parade and show their support for our military.

 

After the parade we hold a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park.  That evening, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. there will be a dinner, sponsored by the American Legion Post 154, with a cash bar to celebrate our Military Families at the American Legion Tybee Post #154.

 

Various Tybee vacation rental companies are offering accommodations with special rates for the weekend, for military, both active and former.

 

In addition to accommodations, several island restaurants, shops and attractions are also offering special discounts for military families. Simply ask for the “Military Discount” when shopping.

 

Organizers for the event hope to increase the number of families who were selected to stay on the island at no cost from last year. Rental costs for about 105 Tybee Island beach houses, cottages and condos were waived for those selected at participating lodging providers.

The deadline to enter is October 15 at 5 p.m.

The deadline to submit the parade application is October 30.
